There is no difference in the science of care between children and adults however the methods used with children are extremely gentle and modified depending on the age of the child. Don’t compare your own treatment to the methods used on infants and children. The light pressure of a fingertip is often all that is needed to correct misalignments. Many parents bring their infants in for a chiropractic check as soon as possible after birth because they know that fixing spinal misalignments as sooner rather than later will improve their baby’s overall function. Remember that the birth process can be challenging for baby as well as for mom. Children respond much faster to care and the benefits of treatment can be immediate.
Bringing a child in for care within the first month of life is a huge benefit for them, and following up with checks at each developmental milestone, such as lifting the head, sitting, crawling, and walking. All of these activities can have an impact on a child’s spine and nervous system, so getting them checked regularly will help them to reach their full potential. Chiropractic is a great addition to a holistic, wellness-based health plan for your child.
